Widex's History

Bernafon was founded in 1946 under the name Gfeller AG. It started off as a telephone system manufacturer in Bern, Switzerland.

The company decided to pursue hearing aids after the second world war, in part due to the fact that the founder, Hans Gfleller, was hard of hearing.

Hans Gfleller’s son shortly thereafter built their first hearing instrument. The device quickly became in demand and the company found themselves thrown into the hearing aid space.

In 1987, Gfeller AG merged with a number of companies to form the Ascom group. Subsequently in 1992 another merger took place after the takeover by the german company Robert Bosch GmbH

In 1995, bernafon was taken over by William Demant which resulted in new sales group along with a research team.

Today Bernafon shares much of it’s technological platform with sister companies Oticon and Sonic Innovations, both of whom are under the ownership of the William Demant Group.

Widex Moment

The revolutionary WIDEX MOMENT™ changes the game to deliver the most pure, natural sound ever. Typically, sound processed in a hearing aid reaches the eardrum later than sound heard directly. And when these two ‘out of sync’ signals mix, you get an artificial sound.

But now you can hear every moment – like you used to.

Widex Evoke

EVOKE knows the difference between classical and pop music. How a meeting sounds different than a party. And it keeps up with you indoors and out – mapping your environment and adjusting accordingly.

Since the sounds you’re exposed to are always changing, the EVOKE hearing aid reacts to the environment around you through the Fluid Sound Analyzer.
